Short short – A Space Opera

The Ink Slingers Guild (ISG) had some round-robin writing fun! We each wrote a sentence or two and then passed the paper to the next person who added to it and passed it along to the next person and on down the line. We hope you are as entertained as we!

Looking out, she watched a nebula drift past off starboard side.

She let out a soft, contemplative “hmm” and looked at the picture of her late husband.

“Goodbye, dear,” she sighed as she pushed the button to release the small ash cloud into the between of space, annoyed with his extravagant final wish.

“Don’t worry,” she told the terrified woman bound on the floor at her feet. “You’re next. He never wanted to be without you in life – I can’t imagine he’d want to part with you now.”

She closed the hatch and let the air back in before turning to collect the woman. She frowned when she found the floor empty, screeching as her body fell backward into the airlock.
